Tiodora 18

Tiotropium binds with high affinity to muscarinic M2 Receptors , thus preventing them from  activating the signal transduction pathway involving Gq protein and phospholipase C. As a consequence ,the synthesis of intracellular second messenger inositol I 4,5-Triphosphate (IP3) is supressed . Therefore blockage of M3 receptors by tiotropium  results in effective inhibition of bronchoconstriction mediated by IP3-Dependent Ca++ Mobilization.
